NO MATTER THE WHEN
NO MATTER THE WHY
NO MATTER THE FEELINGS
NO MATTER THE PAIN
NO MATTER HOW LONG IT TAKES TO FORGIVE…

It grieves me to not see you.
You must know I still love you.
Please know that I care.
Know I wish that I would have been there
When you expected much more of me
Hoped I had been the person you needed
Wished for a better life than I gave you.

I am just only what I am, trying to figure it all out.
But maybe pride brought me to this place.
I’m sorry if I’ve been cold or misspoken.
Sorry we didn’t see things in the same light of day.

I am sorry for the days I can’t take back.
And days with you I should have given.
An added peck on the cheek on your wedding day in front of guests
rather than just a hug.
I am sorry for the ways I acted that embarrassed you, or worse, were shameful
and now can’t be erased.

Sorry is never enough for some. Just words on a page and pathetic.
But I hope whatever this is that has built this chasm between us can be
put to rest, as only a forgiving heart can do.
